North Cott Surf Club

North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club was established in 1918. The Club has grown immensely over the years and now boasts over 2000 members with approximately 600 patrolling members, 600 nippers, 400 associate as well as Long Service, Family and Life Members. See www.ncslsc.com for more information.

As a not-for-profit organisation, all funds generated from First Aid and Surf Safety Courses booked with us are reinvested into North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club, providing vital resources to assist our members in providing safer aquatic environments as well as supporting our Nipper and Surf Sports development.

Lifesaving

Active Members provide an essential service to the community by volunteering their time to patrol North Cottesloe beach.

Our Active Members are trained in Surf Life Saving awards starting from the SRC and Bronze Medallion through to ARTC, Spinal Management, Senior First Aid, IRB Crew/Driver, Pain Management and Basic Beach Management. We also have members who volunteer for the Westpac Chopper and Westfarmers Jet-Ski Team.

These skills are retested on an annual basis to ensure that all patrolling members are up-to-date with current SLS techniques. In return for their volunteer hours on the beach Active Members can use the Club Facilities including gym and hot showers, represent the Club in SLS Competition, be part of leadership teams and be part of the SLS movement!

Surf Sports

Surf sports is one of the cornerstones of the Surf Life Saving movement, allowing competitors to persue a healthy lifestyle and gain recognition for their sporting efforts at the same time.

From nipper to elite Ironman and Ironwoman, all our members have the opportunity to participate in local, regional, state, national and international surf sports competitions. Unlike other sports, the purpose of our competitions is to improve lifesaving skills to keep our beaches safe.

With a strong presence in competition our members represent NCSLSC in Beach Sprints, Boards, Skis, Swimming, Surf Boats and more.

Nippers

Every parent wants their child to lead a happy, healthy and active youth. There is no better place for this than introducing your child to surf lifesaving and nippers.

Nippers is about learning, confidence and having fun in a safe beach environment. For Nippers, the beach is the classroom. They gain confidence in swimming, body boarding, beach sprints, dolphin-diving, spotting a rip, having fun with new friends and discovering things about themselves.

The skills gained in nippers will stick to the soul like sand from the beach and be carried for life... and the nippers of today are the future of surf lifesaving tomorrow.

Social

Throughout the year North Cott hosts a number of social events. With social events for Nippers, Juniors, Young Adults through to Associate members there is something for everyone.

Some of our favourite events on the calendar include:

  • Casual Family Friendly Sundowner BBQs on the balcony

  • Luncheons with guest speakers

  • Nipper BBQs

  • Team Dinners (Junior and Senior State and Aussies Teams)

  • Annual events such as Awards Night, Presidents' Cocktail Party and Christmas Function
