Community Surf Rescue
Course Description and Outcomes
The Community Surf Rescue Certificate is a 2 day course suitable for anyone over the age of 13. Candidates will be taught and assessed on performing rescues, identifying dangers, resuscitation, basic first aid and supervision skills. There will also be a 100m-100m-100m Run-Swim-Run which must be performed in less than 5min and a theory workbook to be completed.
This certificate is recognised by the Department of Education and Training’s Water Safety Guidelines for supervision of children in both open and closed waterways.

Duration
One day (8:30am - 4:00pm)
Pre-requisites
Participants must be a minimum of 13 years of age on the initial date of assessment and complete a 200m swim within 5 minutes over a measured course – minimum 25m pool or measured open water course.
Course Content
Surf Awareness, Emergency Care, Resuscitation (CPR), Surf Skills, Rescue Techniques, Carries and Support, Supervision strategies. Complete a 100m run - 100m swim - 100m run, within 5 minutes. Complete a theory examination paper with an 80% pass rate.

Pre-requisites
Hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate or Bronze Medallion which must be sited and approved by SLSWA prior to course date in order to be eligible to attend. Complete a 200m swim within 5 minutes over a measured course – minimum 25m pool or measured open water course.
